The rich should not be taxed excessively, but should be taxes fairly, which does indeed mean paying more than they do today. We’re not talking about a 50 yr old worth $5M here who brings home $250k - $350k/yr. They already pay their fair share. It’s those that are worth 10x or more than that who aren’t paying a fair amount of tax.

Taxing the rich more will incentivise them further to use the many loop holes within the current tax sytem to avoid paying their share, offset it against dubious schemes or conceal their real wealth offshore.

What would help is a simple easy to understand tax system without the exemptions buried under voluminous pages of text and hidden within a labyrinthine set of rules that only a few can deciper.
