Facial recognition should build a blink feature 🙁😑, where the person is requested to blink their eyes 👀 a couple of times. This detects movement of real person and unlocks it. That enhancement would be more secure 🔐!

Funny how in some other videos the Note can't be fooled by a photo printed from a Walgreens store and it even shows the face recognition working in a very dark room. I tried with my S8+ and it didn't unlock. Also in the settings there's an option to make it more secure and harder to open with a photo.

Why are you guys saying he didn't do a good enough job? In the video he proved the guy did fuck all and it just unlocked with a shitty little selfie from about 2" away, he tried plenty hard enough to replicate it and it didn't work, so it's busted. I think he was pretty clear about the software differences between demo devices and public releases. Show me a video of you guys getting into one of these phones with official software then fine, until then stop bitching.

But when you had the phone with your picture facing down wasn't it rotated? You should've taken the screen rotation off because maybe it couldn't read it that way.

Should you try unlocking the device with a non-mirror image? Since you've used the front camera to capture your face, your photo is a mirror image of your face. May be the facial recognition software is expecting your original unreversed image and not the mirror image. Give it a shot.

Try printing a pic of your face on a large sheet like on a 11x17 paper and see if it would work.

what is the use of the facial unlock if you have to first press a button? can't you unlock it at the lock screen on screen off?

How about a selfie video? Will that make it look like a real person and fool the phone?

Not saying this was the problem, but when you took the face photo with the Note, you raised your eyebrows and opened your eyes up wider. You didn't repeat that with the secondary photos. Just saying.

"Security" like this protect you from NICE people, but not from BAD people.

Weakest point in phone security is YOU. If you will be robbed, you will be forced to unlock your phone. You don't want to be stabbed to death, do you? What "security" are you talking about? If you just lose your phone and it's not locked it is much higher possibility to get it back. Because most people are nice. Nice guy will be able to call somebody from your contact list and tell him that he have your phone.

It says in the settings that facial recognition is not full proof, is only there to unlock ur Device while you're in the washroom watching facetube...

The picture you took is mirrored compared to the one shown in face recognition preview.

You should show that you tried with the phone not laying down. Or unlock with your face when the phone is laying down.

This is the 2nd video I've seen where they couldn't get the Note 8 to unlock with a picture of yourself. It made sense that he said that a demo version isn't secure like an actual retail version that you buy.

why would anyone use face recognition..instead of iris scanner, fingerprint, pin, passcode, pattern, or(optional) changing Bixby voice passcode every hour
