"Knock it off" can seem a little odd that it's taken so seriously, but then you have to remember that we are talking about exercises where people are literally flying through the air in high-powered machines that can pass the speed of sound.

Calling everything off to allow a safe recovery is _incredibly_ important. It's like if a firing range had people staggered out across it firing past each other - being able to make everybody stop shooting at once would be essential to extract someone from that death trap.

The first rule is to tell everyone you are fighter pilot. My uncle who was a Marine pilot says “ You know how you can tell if someone is a fighter pilot…. they’ll tell you.”

So Knock it off is kinda like the air combat training equivalent of CEASEFIRE at a gun range?

People always underestimate the importance of After Action Reports.

It's a time to share constructive feedback in the hopes any errors or mistakes are less likely in the future.
Doesnt matter if it's military or civilian. Debriefings, especially after an near miss or an incident are essential learning tool.

My father was an Eagle Driver in the 80's. He said debriefs were no joke back then - zero room for "safe places" or feelings...

I think he should add "in training". Otherwise just go to war and "nah knock it off". War won

I know....but then, I was a Captain in the Air Force with over 2, 000 hrs in jets including over 1, 500 in the F-111. This was/is how is supposed to happen.

Was at an F-5 aggressor’s house party at Clark AB when their 5 yr old twin boys came running out of their room screaming like banshees. Dad yelled “knock it off, boys” and they replied quickly “one knock it off, two knock it off” and ran back to their room. Safety first.

Cool. Kinda like the “blind person” shout we have in airsoft.

This is something we yell out as loud as we can whenever we see someone with a broken or damaged piece of face protection, you can replace 30 seconds of fun, can’t replace your eyeballs

Been there done that. Started in the AM before sun up, double banged and didn’t finish the last debrief for hours when it was well after dark. 4 v 4 F4s versus F-15s

Lance, it sounds like our time in 111s overlapped, so I kind of surprised our paths never crossed.

People also think we just suit up and go fly fast and do whatever we want once we take off. They don’t know about mission and route planning for hours and having a very strict policy in the air.
