One of my favorite older traps was daylight sensor underneath redstone ore with dark green carpet (or moss now) on top.
Step on the carpet, it'd make the redstone ore glow, activating daylight sensor.

I never understood the appeal of the iron door trap. The pickaxe is the single most important tool in Minecraft and the only reason you wouldn’t have one in your hotbar would be if you are doing something specific inside your base.
