I made an error on the original review of this tool that I wanted to correct. Maxlvledc made me aware of a feature present on the new Bond that I wanted to relay to everyone. One of my viewers also made me aware of a potential problem with the new Bond that wanted to share as well.

You should check out the official leatherman bond video and watch their wire stripping technique. I think you'll find it interesting!

Leatherman Bond fix. I returned my Bond to Leatherman reference the blade issue. CS called me and stated my Bond was within tolerance and if they tightened up the blade anymore I would be unable to easily extent the other tools. They offered to replace mine with a new one or return it as is with no correction. I opted for return as is, since no reason to do an exchange. CS was very courteous and open with their explanation. I am very happy with the and weight of the Bond and with a price point below the Wingman and Side Kick make it an excellent purchase.

I’ve seen the issue of jamming with the wave and the bit driver on a couple occasions.

I scraped up my black oxide Wave (Gen 2) doing that. Was not happy about it.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one to notice that problem.

That knife blade is definitely Dangerous for someone that's not used to useing multi purpose tools so that's definitely a problem that Leatherman needs to fix if they make the blade so it's tight like the Swiss army knifes this one would make a fantastic EDC multi tool thanks Ben for sharing this information with us it's much appreciated 👍🏻

Thanks for advice with the pliers and small flat head potential issue. The tools on my Bond seem a bit tighter with much less play. Still love it.

My wave+ pliers jammed the first day I got it because I maybe didn't put the inside tools in all the way...or something like that. Great vid update, very in depth 🤘

I just got mine and sm very impressed.

Btw I have noticed that the choil area on the blade fits perfectly against the opposing handle end and is perfect for using the blade folded at an angle say for box opening and such.
Obviously theres nothing along the lines of a half stop to make this an actual feature ( probably just so the edge isn't hitting the frame if the blade folded during use ), but it seems that it would be extremely handy to use the blade in this position with your index finger on the spine.

I recently bought a WAVE plus at Home Depot in a clamshell package. It was built in 2021, and it has the plier head jamming problem. I thought it was an outlier, as I’ve never had this problem on any prior Leatherman tools (and I’ve owned a lot). I tried adjusting the Torx screws, and lubricatiing the entire tool- which worked for a time, but the problem has returned. Very annoying!

3:07 this also happened to me few times with my Leathermam Rebar while I was using an awl. Perhaps if Leatherman switched the positions of the tools, it could be solved.

You're adamant about that blade, Both my PST's, and my supertool, I think even the Micra has the same "issue" without me recalling that its ever been an issue. Haven't even noticed it before you started talking about it as a huge issue on the Bond..
Knife on the PST in my pocket right now opens to more than 90degrees before the detent starts to engage, makes it effortless to open... Both blades on the supertool opens to about 60 degrees before spring engages, and since 98 its never cut me because of it.. (has cut me in many other stupid ways tho, I still have the scar from the first time I pulled the serrated knife up to close the saw...

Hello, Ben - thanks for the heads up..good video. My first multitool was a PST bought years ago...If I was starting again, I'd purchase the Bond so as to get the PST experience and go from there...Having said that I'm concerned with the "gremlins" you and other viewers have found with this and other Leatherman tools - is it design/engineering, bad build/construction or negligent quality control? What do you think?

I love my knives & multitools but damn the bond has been living in my pocket over anything else because of its lighter carry to and normally I like the heavy duty leathermansbut I like to pair the bond up with a good knife or utility blade and the 2 work so good together. Just me rambling hope all is well tx

As someone who still EDC the Leatherman super tool I can tell you the blade behaves the same but with the much smaller area of the thumb pull you don't pop it out when using pliers.

On the Rebar the little extra hump on the blade forces the blade closed due to the tight tolerance on the lock. Not having locks but still using the Rebar blade there's now no mechanical way of keeping the blade shut. Only way to resolve this is to tighten the pivot screw on the blade side.

That jam happens with my Charge XTi and prevents the handles from fully closing.

I brought it up to Leatherman about the knife issue. It was really loose on mine and the knife would always slip out. I reached out to Leatherman and they want me to send the tool back in. I tightened the pivot and even tried bending the tension tab and still didnt solve the issue. It's really annoying for a new tool and now I'm out of a Bond for about 3 weeks.

I contacted Leatherman today about the issue with the knife sticking out. They said if you have to pull the knife out to get it to do that it is your responsibility to make sure the implement is properly closed. So basically they are not going to do anything about it.
