Amen! It's so comforting knowing that God is sovereign

Very well said !!! We all are as beggars before God the Almighty, but too arrogant to realise this stark truth.

So true. If there is one doctrine that holds everything together, it will be the Sovereignty of God. Unless one accepts this, as faithful as we may be to them, all other doctrines fall apart.

Man wants to be on the throne. Like the old campus crusade chart. To be Christian means to recognize God is on the throne. Its an adjustment.

The idea that he is not in fact sovereign but that it is God who is absolutely sovereign, is deeply injurious to the Autonomian - well done Dr White!

The reason that believers and unbelievers alike hate God's sovereignty is that it makes God in supreme and absolute control of all things. This is a scary thought for unbelievers because it makes God the absolute King, which is one of the reasons they reject Him. For believers, it is an indication that there are aspects of God's attributes they have no problem with until it clashes with their view of autonomy. It causes many dilemmas in their mind that they can't reconcile, so their fall back position is to either redefine or actually reject sovereignty altogether, in essence elevating themselves (though they are finite) and lowering God to satisfy that dillema.

Yet verses like Psalm 115:3, 135:6-12, Proverbs 16:9, 19:21, 21:1, Isaiah 10:5-15, 46:9-11, Genesis 50:20, Daniel 4:34-35, 5:21, 2 Chronicles 20:6, Acts 2:23, 4:27-28, Romans 8:29-30, 9:6-24, and John 6:37-44 give an overall picture and scope of God's sovereignty in so many areas. We as believers must trust God's Word as it pertains to His sovereignty regardless if we can reconcile it or not. We either believe the scriptures are God-breathed and sufficient (2 Peter 1:21, 2 Timothy 3:16-17) or we reinterpret them to change the Biblical definition of sovereignty to match an earthly understanding of it (for instance, a human king that rules but has limited control of his subjects). In that respect, read Romans 11:33-36 because God doesn't need our counsel when it comes to who He is and what He does.

If by sovereignty one means determinism - it’s very understandable! God determine evil.
But if one simply means all powerful it’s not offensive at all! Maybe to unbelievers it’s offensive! But to the believer it’s total comfort.

Hello, peace be unto you,
Is this a baptist denomination? Or non-denominational, or mixed?
Thank you all and God bless all our brethren in Christ Jesus!

If you define sovereignty as James White does, that is that God decrees everything that happens. Then to ask why? Is truly astounding. The only answer that JW can possibly give is that God decreed that you would be offended.

Calvinist have to take their interpretation of God’s sovereignty, that He controls every thought, action, sin, good deed, etc, to the logical conclusion that it’s not just God’s will that people sin, but that God Himself even compels a person to sin. Their sinful acts are mandated by God. I believe this error can be debunked with just one verse, “But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid.”

What does God say to the unbeliever on Judgement day who was predestined before the foundations of the earth to go to hell?

One power does it all, good and evil one power by Imagination the oldest creation by God in man not outside like great readers try and save dust. Eccl 3:15 “That which is, already has been; that which is to be, already has been; and God seeks what has been driven away.” The “natural man” cannot grasp that, for to him reality is based only on the evidence of the senses. The man of reason could justify the verse’s end, saying if it has any meaning then the writer must mean recurrence. The sun comes every day and the moon completes its cycle and the seasons come and go. If we took a picture of the universe today, the scientists can compute how long it will take to return to this point in the picture. So the intellectual man could justify the verse; but that is not what is meant, for it is addressed not to the man of reason or the man of sense, but to the man of Imagination. What is it all about? “That which is, already has been; that which is to be, already has been, and God seeks what has been driven away.”

This man makes me laugh. He's good man that preaches false teaching from a fairytale book called the Bible. When Jesus said I am the soldiers fell backwards... Really James white. No wonder Mel Gibson didn't buy it for his movie

This is ironic! The most objection repeated by evangelicals against Islam is about this very point. Christians always mock Muslims for making the law of God superior than the law of men. Christians also had been proud for embracing the laws of Roman empire during the its time, and they are extremely proud for embracing the laws of secular western societies. However, when it is come to the Islamic law or even biblical laws for that matter, they start to become extremely rebellious! In fact, christians are united with atheists to negate the laws of God.
Where's the sovereignty of God) over christians today as a factual reality? It simply doesn't exist.
In contrast, Muslims express the sovereignty of God as a living reality which can be seen over all aspects of their lives. Let's be honest!
