NASA | 5 Year Time-lapse of the Sun

Показать описание
The Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) celebrates its 5th anniversary since it launched on February 11, 2010. This time-lapse video captures one frame every 8 hours starting when data became available in June 2010 and finishing February 8, 2015. The different colors represent the various wavelengths (sometimes blended, sometimes alone) in which SDO observes the sun.

When the sun takes a picture of itself...

It's a "sol-fie".

The second graders loved this video. We are five of those views. We had a brief explanation of wavelengths (prisms and then going broader) to help explain the color changes. Thank you for this and for my ten wonderful minutes of absolute quiet.

What a time to be alive, to literally view in near magic detail, the beating heart of our entire existence. Absolutely incredible, every single person on earth should see this.

Wow! I didn't realize sun changes so drastically over 5 years. Always learn something new.

compress this whole video to 20 seconds, that's the luminous output of  the Wolf-Rayet R136a1

You can start to see the Solar Maximm " kadooshing " magnetic fields together at the Equator at 1:29 . Sorry " kadooshing " was the only thing I could come up with atm LOL

This is so freakin stunning! In fact even more than that. It's speechless!

Why there is NO activity near the poles but only in the central band, mostly 45° up and down from the sun's "ecuator"?

every time it's changing the color
what is the reason behind it?

There are several partial solar eclipses that are captured in this video, check out 2:10 as an example

male yang is sun power
female yin is earth nurture
men who overcome earth's overwhelming yin dominance, with actions from the core (heartbeat; gut instincts/butterflies; virility; financial energy) will reign supreme and evolve.

Incredible life giving star. Light energy is so fascinating

Looks like two latitude bands statistically dominate the solar activity, while the poles are predominantly quiescent. I assume there's an internal solar-equivalent of the Hadley circulation.

It's maybe the music, but this video touches me

The crazy part is that I don't remember the sun making such dramatic changes in the last 5 years. Shows how much we take her for granted.

I suggest everyone mute the audio for this and listen to John Murphy's "Surface of the Sun" while watching this video. You're welcome.

Desde pequeno adimiro o espaço. Pena que no Brasil somos fracos nesse tipo de pesquisa. Parabéns NASA.
