Scotlands North Coast 500 in a Campervan |This years best staycation?!!

The North Coast 500 is the greatest road trip in Scotland, and this week we head off in search of the best stops along its route in our self converted campervan. We are not sure how many places we have included in this video, but its about 30 minutes of epic scenery, big waterfalls, lochs, historical sites and some wonderful hikes, oh and a story about a polar bears skull, cool!

We have been in Scotland for close to 4 weeks now, if you are looking for inspiration this summer for some grand adventures in the UK, then please do take a look at our other most recent vlogs below, we especially enjoyed the Outer Hebrides.

This is one of our very favourite videos, we have loved putting it together and the Islands really felt like balm for the soul, especially after such a prolonged lockdown. We hope you also enjoy it.

We are the Newbys, John, Tara, and our two little boys Crusoe and Sawyer. We’re a family who are pursuing an alternative lifestyle, and after two years of full time travel we’ve taken root on an abandoned farm in Northern Portugal which we’re renovating into our dream off-grid homestead. We release new videos every Sunday sharing our story, and we’d love for you to be a part of it with us. Please remember to SUBSCRIBE if you haven’t already, it’s free and super easy to do and it helps us hugely.

Thank you for being here. We hope that we can inspire you to Be Brave, Think Big and to Explore.

Here are some handy links for you to check out while you’re here too:

You 2 & the smiley face little man. These videos you made makes me so glad. It`s nice to see that someones have the feel of the place where you are and enjoy of it all. I think you lift the words of "to be human" at the highes level because of kindness to the place you are. I am just an ordinary man, living, working having calm everyday life. For me these videos feels like you are making some of your derams true. I wish all the best for all to you. I`m not very good in this language so i`ll hope that the text is correct. 🙂

I enjoyed your trip and your incredibly well-behaved baby very much. I'm leaving Tuesday for a trip that will take me to Glasgow - Ballater - Nairn - Bettyhill (with hopefully a day trip to the Orkneys) - Ullapool - Skye - Kinlochleven - Callander and then back to Glasgow and New York. Can't wait! Just hoping for good weather and not too many midges.

Thank you for posting these awesome videos about Scotland! You've inspired us! We've booked a trip this coming summer, not in a camper van but on a motorcycle! Thank you for giving great info! You guys are amazing!

Your adventure has become our early Sunday evening viewing with a glass of wine in front of the fire (yes in May :( !) . I have to say that even though we are reasonably well travelled through much of this landscape it has completely broadened our horizons and shown us that there is so much more to see when you travel at a different pace and in a different mode. Thanks so much for sharing - it is great to get your perspective and with the ever changing and adaptable Crusoe! Well done guys - another superb Vlog - thankyou :)

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Originally we were planning to drive from Inverness straight to the Orkney Islands when we tour Scotland next year. Thanks to this video we are now planning to stay overnight at Loch Eriboll to explore the north coast before we catch the 1900 ferry to the islands. Looking forward to watching more of your videos. Cheers from British Columbia, Canada.

Nice video. You really look as though you are having a great time.

We are doing Shetland, Orkney and the top corner of 500 on our way back down later in summer.

I did the 500+ back in 1984. Great sunset at Achmelvich camping. Got to stand on Dounreay reactor plate and lighthouse keeper allowed us to watch the light come on at the top of Duncansby lighthouse.

Wow, some absolutely breathtaking views along the way there and definitely makes me want to get up and go! 2021 goals just been amended ;) What wonderful memories you will have, especially as it wasn't too crowded anywhere by the looks of things. Looking forward to the next instalment.
