In the beginning of December 2021 I decided to put my mustang into storage and build the garage into a heater workshop. I first installed a 6x12 rack I get most of the small stuff off the floor. Then installed an Ideal R12.9 insulated garage door. Then royal building products garage door weather striping. The Mr. heater Maxx garage gas heater (50,000 btu unit). This was the last step to max out efficiency, so we insulated the ceiling with 12” thick R38 Kraft - rock wool insulation! It cost $720 for the insulation at my local Menards building supply.

The results… 44 degree difference (21* out side / 65* inside) the heater runs for 3 mins every 18 mins! So the heater only runs 16% of the time! Super efficient!

I can’t wait to get some repairs completed on my toys for next season!

Great job and i gotta be honest i used that hammer tacker when i was installing my baffles in my attic. That thing reverberated sound across my rafters and made my ears ring. Be sure your wearing air protection!

The baffles im fairly sure are only needed if you were to put the insulation directly onto the ceiling, keep the air flow going, putting them on there without insulation does nothing.

I don't have vented soffits ... I assume the pro vents are only needed for vented soffits otherwise you have no air flow anyways?

Hi Thanks for the video. I have a question. We are renovating garage and our contractor has created frame for ceiling using 2x4 only. Can it hold up the 1/2” drywalls ?

If you’re not gonna air condition in the garage do you need to insulate the attic someone told me it would hold him in the summertime if you insulate it without AC

Do you have to put drywall over the insulation? Or can you leave it like you have it?

Hi. I'm new to insluation. But can you run insluation bats up against the roof sheathing. So you can save space?
