it's advisable to raise the osb/drywall off of the concrete floor about a half inch or so to keep it from absorbing moisture

My son and I put a plywood ceiling with 1 x 2 battens on the joints in a garage loft workshop. Primed and painted, it looked pretty good. We used 1/2 inch pink foam with taped joints as a vapor barrier. Blew in fiberglass in the attic.

Good video. I recently insulated my workshop out back with that same brand of insulation and I attached OSB over it. The difference for me is that my stud finder still finds the studs. It's the type that is about 8" long and it has about a dozen red LEDs along the top. You slide it along the wall and the LEDs light up where the stud is. We've had it for a while. I think we bought it at Sam's Club. But it still finds the studs for us. We have 7/16" OSB.

Nice video man, not trying to tell you what to do by any means and tbh I didnt noticed you did this or not but it’s always a good idea to raise your walls whether it be osb, sheet rock, plywood, etc...a good 1/2” above your concrete foundation, so it doesn’t absorb any moisture through the concrete other than that great job I like your ceiling trick with 2 x 4 brace 👌🏼👍🏼💪🏼

I've seen a lot of arguments that a vapor barrier in a garbage is a bad idea.

Okay, so I'm using kraft backed insulation- should do the same as the plastic barrier, yes???

10:55 why put the painted side against the ceiling? Would it not be easier to put the turquoise side outward? I don’t mind if my garage was all turquoise😂😂 I guess nowadays they have all different colors already applied to the panels

❤❤❤ thank you very much for the tutorial❤❤❤

It is relevant to state which climate zone you are in especially with the use of a vapor barrier on the inside.

Nice video, just what I needed to see! Did you use R20 in the ceiling as well as the walls? I'm also in Alberta and being told I should use R40 up top. The garage will be heated.

Thanks for the video, in the future after the osb if you install a nail and take it out, that will create a hole where air can come in contact with the fiberglass. Am I thinking too much or this wont be an issue. Thanks again.

Thanks for the video! I know you mentioned that you live in Alberta. Do you know what is the standard R for ceiling for the garages what insulation are you using?

Fiberglass if you ever get a flood or mold removal is easier and therefore cheaper to restore.

Just for thought....what size is your garage and how many sheets of osb did it take?
