Cut the fiber side up on the table or floor by press it down with your straight edge. A Lot less grief and floating fibers

Leave a half inch of paper after cut and fold to match uncut edge. Push insulation up, unfold paper and staple to inside or side of joist NOT ON THE BOTTOM! Leaves two by face clean for finish material (sheet rock, drywall).

Vapor barrier goes towards the living space.
Don't staple vapor barrier to the face of ceiling joists or wall studs so you can use drywall glue.
Cut it fuzzy side up, vapor barrier down.

I do that as well. It’s good that insulation is so easy to work with that if you have the right tools and it’s not blazingly hot

do not use that wire slot method if you have knob & tube wiring. 9yr full time firefighter & also solo diy flipper (1sfh, 2 duplexes) . old wires dont like to be disturbed or have new insulation touching them. yea you can still insulate, but if you’re gonna do it be very careful not to put stuff on or very near that old wiring. i’ve seen it cause numerous fires & also that wire is very brittle at the very least you’re risking losing power & having to run new circuits

I was told that when you insulate, to recess the insulation an inch from flush.

So you glue the drywall to the paper on the joist, wrong paper gets stapled to the side of the joist

So, for ceiling insulation, the brown/paper side sits on the ceiling with pink facing upwards?

I installed it with the brown/paper side facing upward and the insulation facing down on the ceiling drywall.

Is this wrong?

It looks like he just used kraft in the sound ceiling in between floors which would be wrong. Should have been unfaced and kraft goes in the ceiling between the top floor between the attic and top floor. You can't make another vapor barrier

Wrapping insulation around electrical cables increases hot cables- possible fire

Over a few years, the paper where was stapled will break and it will fall down. May I ask how to fix that?

Is there anyway that the insulation could just slide in above the drywall without removing entire section?

I'm replacing plaster walls with sheet rock. Should I use fiber glass insulation or spray form on the outer walls?

I am having difficulty trying to decide if I should do this or foam insulation in my attic ceiling. This is more costly, but foam can be more issues in the long run with mold? Curious to hear your opinion on this matter. Thank you.

Use one of those break away knives and cut it face up, you won't tear the paper and you won't have to cut twice.Also if you're hanging sheetrock you don't want the paper on the joist like that because you're literally gluing your rock to nothing but paper.
