This also conversely implies aliens receiving our radio signals would think it’s retro

I've been explaining this to people for years. Our attempts to communicate with any outside intelligent life really is an attempt to communicate with similar to us intelligent life.

They've been communicating by hurling giant rocks at earth lol

Alien #1: They're not picking up.
Alien #2: Guess they don't want to know the secrets of the universe. 🤷

Unless we are the most advanced, maybe we are the aliens sending futuristic signals

And not only that, those signals travels at light speed. The nearest star, one round trip for communication with feedback is a minimum of 10 years.... Just for a "hi, how are you?

Center of our own galaxy.... 50, 000 years for the same message.

BINGO ! Another perfect explanation and synthesis of the whole communication with other life forms idea.. Very, very impressive .

I now imagine aliens sending space carrie pigeons

I never thought of it like that... our advancement in life, science, technology etc could be SO far behind an alien civilisation, that they would think that no one is on this planet

Our species hasn't been alive very long. Dinosaurs were alive 165 million years. ET's possibly could have been alive centuries longer than us. That could play a part both in the technology but also the purpose

That's just fantastical thinking. The most likely answer to the Fermi Paradox is that there is nothing out there trying to communicate with us. To the extent there is anything out there that is multicellular, we are too far apart to even contemplate each other's existence.

No it’s like that sir! If alien civilization is advance enough use a futuristic signal, it means that they smart enough to know that perhaps we are still communicating with radio (ancient to them)! I’ve always kind of thought that due to vast distance between the stars, everyone goes it alone. Unless you’ve developed a way to create wormhole in the fabric of the space. Creating wormholes requires infinite amounts of heat, even at that it may not be enough. Stars are great sources of infinite energy, does that mean that the space near the stars is warped! We don’t have a measurable and verifiable way of knowing! We don’t even know what the space is made up of and what it interacts with, hence we call it dark matter and dark energy!

Smth no one ever talks about long distance communication is error-correction. Random chance (cosmic rays, quantum nonsense) will lead to bits in the message being flipped, changing the meaning significantly over enough events. NASA already has to use pretty robust error-correcting codes just to talk to spacecraft in other parts of our solar system. To communicate somewhere light-years away... the signal would completely disappear into the noise.

Right no shit, but its not like we can ask them how to communicate with them so our forms of communication is the best option we have

Why are aliens inherently smarter and more civilized than us ?

Are we so sure that aliens want to communicate with humans? Maybe they want to communicate with whales, like in Star Trek?

He might be the alien we are looking for folks

So is he saying, the reason why no aliens contacted us in the present time, is because the aliens might have tried before, , thousands/millions years ago, and found no reply from us and so they have moved on to the next area in the galaxy?
