Roku was already dead for 12 years by the time Sozin attacked the air nomads. So Trent is VERY behind the times on the status if the Avatar.

And then the Comet; "Oh no"

Ok but admittedly the Fire Nation only attacked the Air Nomads during the Comet, the water tribe raids were afterwards

This actually raises a good point, how the hell did sozins comet dictate that the fire nation was able to subjugate and kill a ton of people from every nation? It's not like it was used to destroy entire cities, hell it wasn't even used during the siege of Ba Sing Se, you cannot look me in the eyes with a straight face and tell me that the entirety of the water tribes, air nomads, and earthbenders just laid down their livelihoods because a few rare firebenders were able to torch one forest. And what about after the comet passed? Clearly it took more than the couple hours the comet was present to subjugate all four nations, I get they took out the air nomads which are honestly the weakest link when it comes to fighting massive groups of firebenders, but the earth kingdom and water tribes should have been able to fend the fire nation off long enough to get through sozins comet at least, we know the northern water tribe was because they were still untouched until the end of book 1 when the fire nation attacked while trying to capture the avatar. Seriously a few big fires and all of a sudden water doesn't work on it? Or earth can't block it? We've seen Toph on her own hold up a massive skyscraper sized library while standing on sand, sure it took all her effort but she was a little kid and blind, seriously how the hell did the fire nation subjugate LITERALLY everyone when they are outnumbered and for the most part outskilled by the other nations, it doesn't make much sense
