My course is on sale! And so is my heart. Not really, but I like drawing monsters.

------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm usually drawing on Strathmore 400 Series Bristol Paper Smooth, my Moleskine Sketchbook, or on Bienfang Marker Paper with some sort of .5 HB lead and very soft wood pencils, often 14B Pitt Graphite Matte or black Faber-Castell Polychromos colored pencils. I also like my Pilot Lucina fine point fountain pen (red with the gold tip), and Copic alcohol markers.

Some info on my digital set ups:
Photoshop or Clip Studio Paint with a Kamvas 24 Pro 4k on a 2019 iMac.
Clip Studio or Procreate on iPad Pro 12 inch with Apple Pencil.
The camera I use for recording my pencil drawings is the Panasonic GH5.

I don’t buy courses. I’m a professional DP and camera / edit guy who loves drawing. So we’re not supposed to buy into tuts.

However, the way this guy draws and the way this man managed to speak on AI generated art in recent year was not only masterful but spoken with such passion and integrity I felt a deep connection to the Artists’ mission, struggle and my own sense of longing to pursue art. So to speak.

I love this man! I can’t wait to reorganise my Wacom (no selling here), but to take Misters course and reconnect to what I value. I am not a salesperson for Mr Zapata’s approach, the ambience and teach-ability on offer. I am in humble awe.

Well done man. Keep doing you.

With gratitude.

I was just looking at your courses again. I can't now.... but at some point I'd love to take your course. Hopefully you'll be around then. I only really like organic shapes though. Back in 2009, I won an award for drawing at a community college. I mean, in large part it was because my drawing teacher was an abstract artist herself. I likely wouldn't have gained recognition traditionally. And that's where I lack, because I only did expressive work. Initially, I wanted to learn how to illustrate a picture book poem I wrote. But I am not an illustrator. And working with kids is no longer what I do. I let it all go. And it wasn't practical, didn't have the money or security then. Was older than the students so I didn't fit in. But, intuitively, there is personal freedom in drawing. I miss the feeling, because society and everything takes a toll on an individualist. Anyway, your like one of the greatest artists. And I was watching you this morning, and was really surprised because you strike me as an entp. I don't know obviously but that's what I thought. That blows me away. I've never met an entp visual artist before. I wonder what your enneagram is!! Oh to be young! And passionate! Are you Hispanic? Dang I always was attracted to Latinos. Dang. Just what I need for inspiration haha. Haven't felt that in a while. ❤ Cheers to you for love, life, and passion. And all good things. And your wife too! All of yours! Many blessings! ❤

Your advice on focusing on drawing the pictures you want to make rather than studies is the greatest advice ever but I have a question. While drawing the pictures you want to make, can you use reference or does that still count as studying?
