I saw someone breaking a large amount of burpee plant cell plant growers outside of Tractor Supply and throwing in the dumpster. I asked why as they were brand new. They said store policy to keep people from dumpster diving . I technically get that part but those things could’ve been marked down to nothing or at least donated. What an absolute waste. I guess landfills need feeding 😑

We live in a small rural town in SW Idaho. My wife plants 800-900 garlic bulbs every Oct/Nov and is harvesting them now. Our backyard garlic is home grown and didn't start out in china. About 6 years ago we purchased garlic bulbs from a farm in Oregon that is 100% Non-gmo seed garlic and we just save enough of what we grow to plant the next years plot. She gives away to neighbors and friends and her friends give her something back nearly weekly. Spinach, mixed greens, Kimchi, etc, . In our town you can have chickens/ducks/rabbits, etc, within the city limits and the county land across the road you can have any animals you want. We buy local brown eggs by the 3-6 dozen for under $2.50 a eighteen pack. Just driving around I can find several people selling local eggs and there's always the farmers market on Sat that you can talk to the actual farmers and ranchers to buy local grass fed/finished beef with no shots/growth hormone, whole hogs (or half if you split with a friend) that are fattened up with alfalfa pellets and ground non-gmo corn. We bought a half-beef in June and a whole hog in July. If you live in a bigger city try searching for "real" farmers markets out in the styx and you can pick up fresh produce that beats wally world any day.

I am elderly and I know the difference between what hamburger is supposed to look and taste like from what we are buying at the stores. The meat is supposed to be red (from blood), not a orangey color. It's supposed to be sticky when you handle it, not greasy. I think the beef is being drained of blood to sell as blood meal for fertilizer. We aren't getting much nutrition from hamburger. I think shortening is added, too, because we get more melted fat after frying.

I hadn't gone in Walmart for months. Wow i could tell immediately that less product available l. Bleach was 99¢ not that long ago. Now $5.50 ish to $6.50. Planned control of the people. Praying daily for wisdom with discernment and God's mercy for our nation. We need as a nation to turn back to God.

Update canning lids can be reused, simmer lids for 20 minutes, only re use on long processed foods like beans etc, not on jams and pickles.

i was a commercial fisherman in canada and our whitefish was semi frozen and shipped to china to have the pin bones pulled out then shipped back here to be sold. our version of going green

Thanks for the TIP on mixing lentils into ground beef. Great idea!!! We planted about thirty red onion bulbs this spring and about six square feet of bunching onions. Onions grow great in containers. I uses cloth growing bags/buckets/etc. Some of my growing bags are 2.5 feet across by 12 inches deep. They are great for planing radishes, onions, greens, etc, . If you have any patio space that gets sunlight you can plant all kinds of veggies there. Look up a guy's videos about four square foot gardening. Come on people, it's not too late to plant veggies. some are ready in 30/60/90 days. It's a little late to plant sweet corn but you can grow squash, greens, etc. and it will help stretch you food dollar.

We are Australian and we check every label on every food and drink item we buy. We automatically return some items to the shelves - depends which country is identified on the label. China is one country whose products we totally avoid. We generally buy Australian (better the devil you know eh? Lol)....One more point: if there are a lot of ingredients whose origins aren't identified, we pass on that product too even if it says "Made in Australia". It has to say that almost all ingredients are Australian.

Update: went to see Despicable Me 4 with husband. I found it interesting that in a shopping mart scene the cereal boxes on the shelves were seven dollars a box for highly processed sugar filled cereal. The movie made it very clear and easy to see as though it was being highlighted . I found that interesting.
