I picked up my first Terry Pratchett book last night, so its very cool timing to see this video posted. Could tell why he was so well loved even just within the first couple of pages.

I _loove_ Terry Pratchett's books. For many reasons too. He investigates the human condition in a fun and unique way for a start.

And he _always_ has a happy ending. And I need happy endings. They're good for my soul.

He once said he recommended writing about 400 words a day- which I think is an amazingly manageable target and something I try to do as a writer. It's a relatively slow pace from the outside, but in reality it's about a page a day!

I think you are a solid, grounded person offering actionable advice/guidance. Hence why I subscribed to you some time ago. Also the fact that your videos are superbly edited together adds immensely to the overall viewing experience, retaining our attention throughout. As a writer on the verge of completing his debut novel, I would like to offer a huge respect for what you offer.

Thank you so much for doing this! I especially love the note on 1. Spending time in the mist 2. Reading anything that I may find interesting without limiting myself to only reading what I think will definitely add to my writing.

RE: nasty comments: Ignore them. I subscribed to your channel to hear your thought on writing. Am I going to always agree with you? Of course not. Nobody who knows what they're doing to any degree would. I come back to the channel because even when I don't agree it's worth thinking about.

On the subject of knowing your ending, I'd prefer to let the story go on unknown to what the ending would be. If that makes any sense 🤔🤷‍♂️ anyway, everyone's got a different way. Also, I've just had my 1st novel published. I've gone for the self-publishing route as i did with my poetry books . But maybe i'll pluck up the courage to go the traditional route on my next one. We'll see. Anyway, great channel, picked up some really good advice 😁

micro ideas: Alan Moore ins his master class says something similar about reading "bad" books to get ideas from :)

Hi, hope you are doing well. Do US or Uk based literary agents accept manuscripts in a foreign language that are translated into english? and Are there any publishing houses that accept manuscripts ( translated into english) from new author without an agent?
I know that the magazines of fantasy and science fiction accept stories from all over the world. and Translations are welcome and encouraged, even if the work has been previously published in another language. but I don't know if that work with literary agents and publishing houses?
