This is exactly what I was looking for! I was thinking of buying a portable monitor to pair up with my ultrawide but this saved me money since I already have an iPad Air! The only thing I noticed is that the cursor is really slow but watching videos is fine.

Thank you. I just did it.. first I installed Splashtop with green icon and it just connected laptop with iPad to enter iPad's photos, but Splashtop agent with blue icon made it iPad as extended display.
