I just got myself a 1.6 Turbo Cabriolet, with the heritage kit, and I have to say, it has aged beautifully. It's hands-down the best car I've ever driven; or had the privilege of owning. It compares in quality and road feel to vintage/classics I've ridden in at festivals, and I can't see myself ever parting with it. It handles even the most brutal of my local Cornish lanes like it's on rails. Such a shame VW seems reluctant to bring it back. Even if it's resurrected as electric, I hope it keeps some of the more 'analogue' parts I'm coming to love... especially the old-school steering wheel!

Well, it seems that AE pays more. After all, it is sponsored by VAG. Mat's review's on CB were spot on, even if he was a little to generous with overall scores.But look at this: i30 - CB car of the year, only fault backwards visibility, rating 5.0, AE 4.0, negatives firm ride (and it's truly not, I've driven it), and "fussy interior design" (which looks spectacular in comparison to golf's). Golf - AE 5.0 (negative "styling could be more adventurous", CB 4.7 (lifeless steering, boring).

Well, it's certainly better looking than the Beetle that came before it. It does almost look like a cousin of the Porsche.

If "The Dukes of Hazard" were remade today, Boss Hogg's nephew Hughie would undoubtedly upgrade to this VW Beetle.
