The 6 tastes

According to ayurveda there are 6 tastes that all play an essential role in your overall health. The 6 tastes in ayurveda are sweet, sour, salt, bitter, pungent and astringent. The kapha weight loss diet food list focuses on the bitter, pungent and astringent tastes in order to balance kapha dosha. 

Kapha dosha pacifying tastes

Bitter
Absorbs excess moisture, relieves congestion, in addition to being a digestive tonic to clear the GI tract (riding kapha's sluggishness!)

Pungent
Stimulates digestive fire and is also very drying (bringing more heat to sluggish, cold kapha!). Cleanses the blood, clears the sense (kapha mucus), thins the blood and clots, reduces cholesterol.

Astringent
Loosens mucus and cough. Creates lightness in the body (to lift kapha off the couch!)

Kapha weight-loss diet should focus on consuming lighter, drier foods to balance kapha natural heavy, moist qualities. Choose fruit or toasted muesli in the morning. Stick with a dark leafy green salad for lunch, and try a vegetable soup for dinner.

pungent taste does wonders for kapha, and it does them immediately. I was spending whole days sitting in front of pc during lock down, eating all this heavy sweet salty food (it was ok for me before lockdown because I used to have much more physical activity) and kapha increased so much that even after small meal I had no energy to do anything and wanted to lie on couch.
Today I add some (actually alot of) pungent chilly ketchup to my food, immediately lazyness is gone

So happy I found your channel. Just found out I'm Kapha. I was just introduced to this principle by a friend but it's so strange because even before, I've been feeling like I need to give up almost these exact foods. No reason, almost like an instinct. I love when the universe just clicks!!
But I'm sad about the walnuts :(

Can you expand on why carbonated water is not recommended? And l have seen how inflammatory canola and other highly processed oils are not recommended. What alternative oils can l use ???

I am loving all your videos! Thank you so much. I am wondering if you or any other viewers could help me with a question? According to Banyan Botanicals I am mostly Kapha and Vata, with a small amount of pitta. Should I focus on foods for “pitta imbalance” or should I focus on consuming foods that are strictly in line with the Kapha dosha since it is my main constitution? I am roughly 50% Kapha, 40% vata and 10% pitta. I would greatly appreciate your help 🙏💖💫
