Another reminder to be careful with over the counter options. Just because it’s OTC, it doesn’t mean it is benign and completely safe.
Yes, hydrogen peroxide is antimicrobial and can do a good job at preventing infection but if you use it on a wound, you are damaging the skin further. For the trolls on social media who say I only care about skin and not infections, this makes zero sense. I care about both and they go hand in hand. If your wound does not heal, you’re putting yourself at a daily risk of getting an infection!
I have seen people enlarge ulcers to the point where it took months to heal. I typically say regular 🧼 soap and water 💦 to clean a small cut is preferable. Hypochlorous acid is antimicrobial and does not damage skin and thus another worthy option for those worried about an infection. If the wound is large or infected, definitely see your doc.
