Don't underestimate the pain caused by braces. After tightening them, it hurts a lot for almost a week.

Braces are usually always painful. Some day you will wake up and you can really feel a certain tooth being pulled and it’s quite sore. And I had a longer wire on one side and every time I ate it would literally pierce into my cheek and get stuck on the inside of my cheek, I would have to carefully pull it away and it was very irritating and uncomfortable. It also hurts biting into foods sometimes. So yes, braces do hurt a lot of the time and it’s not always temporary. Obviously it’s slightly different for everyone but it’s like this for the majority of braces wearers.

Just got my braces off: pro tip, eat cold food after you remove/replace each wire. They are heat activated so ice cream/smoothies help a lot to ease the pain

Im seeing a lot of comments talking about braces hurting. It really all depends on the person. My braces almost never hurt and were barely uncomfortable. The pre-braces spacers though, I needed lots of ibuprofen that week.
