It’s totally normal for your teeth to be loose with braces, it’s because they are shifting and moving. :)

I knew one month of braces definitely made a difference I could literally feel my teeth moving and fixing themselves when I was tired enough for me to relax my muscles and body

The periodic wiggly feeling took me years after braces to finally stop. Its only now that I am 4 years out that I realized it ever did end. Not something that people talk about a lot, but knowing probably would have made me freak out a lot less. Braces are weird, so thank you for talking about the minute details of this process from a patient perspective.

I just got my braces off yesterday after a year and a half! I ate everything on the no eat list and never broke a bracket or wire. You just have to be careful with it

You got this man! I had braces for 2-3 years and you’ll have quite a few stories by the end of this journey.

So it’s completely normal for your teeth to feel loose since they are shifting and moving. This is due the wires pulling on your teeth. The pulling activates cells called osteoclasts (cells that basically degenerate bone) and followed by the rebuilding of bone which are the osteoblasts. The whole process is pretty nifty, but has to be done slowly so osteoclasts don’t just destroy your bones fast enough to where osteoblasts can’t catch up.

Following the whole process of braces, they usually give you a retainer and the whole purpose for that is so that your teeth stay where they are and the osteoblasts can continue pumping bone and making your teeth stable untilthe process is complete. If you don’t wear the braces, the teeth will shift back because the cells didn’t finish their job lol.

Me who is going to get braces tomorrow 😶🙌

honestly sometimes the gap seems to get bigger because one tooth needs to be more vertical so that when they go back together they actually line up nice like 🦷🦷🦷

I only broke brackets because of my mouthguards I used for sports lol, other than that I ate what I wanted and never broke it

I never broke a bracket myself. But on my first wire’s tightening they accidentally ripped off my bracket while taking off my rubber band. It hurt like hell😭
