This is great virtuosic Chopin playing.  It sounds effortless. There is style, dynamic color and clarity of line.  Other virtuosos emphasize the demonic character of the left hand but lose the elegance that always characterizes Chopin.

There is no question that Sokolov is amonst the greatest pianists alive, but in this case I think that much is lacking. In the upper treble, for example, many of the notes are indiscernible, and in the bass the left hand is not pronounced enough.Even compared to a relative unknown pianist such as Horacio Gutieres this is shown.

This is too fast. Nothing but virtuosic playing, too quick to enjoy the harmonies, counterpoint and melody. It's finished before you know! Under 1 minute there will be even more Wows! but its not my idea of musicality.
