It won’t go flat if you add the syrup slowly while continuing to whip the whites! Then add the mallow in chunks until it’s fully incorporated. You did a great job and good for not giving up when the first two didn’t work out!

It’s from a root of a plant called Mallow. And they would grow in boggy marshy areas. So mallow of the marsh became Marsh -Mallows

My coworker just recently made a batch of these and brought them in! He grew and harvested the plants himself, then dried the roots and made the marshmallows. So glad to have experienced the fruits of all that labor haha

I make real (Mallowroot) marshmallows every Christmas and give them as gifts. ❤ The rest of the year I make them for myself to soothe my Crohn's disease - works like a charm!

My mother is somewhat a jack of all trades with “concoctions” be it food, soap, tea, so I actually did get to try real marshmallows when I was in my teens, they’re so delicious but a lot of work, I definitely think everyone should give it a go at least once

Theyre also great for tooth pain. I had really bad teeth and would get abscesses quite often. Id pop one in my mouth and hold it on the tooth, and in about 10 mins the pain subsided. Make sure to wash your mouth out afterwards so the sugar doesn't sit in there and make it worse.

I made real marshmallows once when I was little and omg they where so fresh and bouncy and literally just melted in your mouth this brings back the best memories making them !
