Listening to him was like listening to Uncle Iroh. It must be lovely to have a cup of tea listening to him anytime of the day.

For those who are curious,
生き甲斐 (ikigai) literaly means "purpose in life", "something one lives for" in japanese. :)

He nailed the explanation!

From this video alone, I can categorically say that my Ikigai is "to teach".

Thanks @TEDx for this piece

I have heard many talks on ikigai but this seems to be the best motivational speech which gives us the roadmap for finding our own ikigai.

Ikigai - do what you love, do what you are good at, do what the world needs and do what you will be rewarded for.

This is the talk I needed for this specific moment in my life. I was so immersed in it I even felt like clapping at the very end.

I have been delighted by this wonderful talk, light hearted, yet deadly serious, it's not the 'what' we get in life, it's 'how' we live it, seeking to delight others cannot be done by forcing yourself on others, rather it is like stepping in as a dance partner, for a few moments drawing attention to something beautiful, telling, profound, meaningful, ultimately moving and thoughtful, a light touch and a happy smile, and magically we've dabbed a dot of colourful delight into another's life...

The best Ikigai talk I've ever listened to! I've never thought of it was an action/verb before. Everyone tells me that this is a goal to strive forward and that sometimes make it feel like it's something too far away. Thank you for reminding us that meaningful life starts now, with each action we choose for ourselves!

What hit me about this talk is Martial Arts changed my life! Ouit so many bad habits, got in shape and went on to teach! I was also a professional musician for many years! I still love doing both!

Sometimes western influences recommend choose a job what you like to do, but it is not make sense. Sometimes what we like could be not valuable skill in life, but this Japanese philosopy, ikigai says better something, it is kind of combination "what you like", "what can you earn", "what you are good at "

As a Japanese, i feel it strange
In dictionary, Ikigai(生き甲斐) is joy of living. In everyday life we use this word to refer to something that makes our life worth living. I like this word but There’s no more meaning

The idea of having a purpose in life seems so simple yet difficult. Before listening to this Ted Talk I was lost and didn't really know where to even begin. The concept of Ikigai is just what I needed to make my mark and begin my life purpose. Thank you Ted Talk and Tim 🙂.
