The most familiar triangle in relationships is one man with two women. It's in literature, films both serious and comical and the angst of marriages where men keep mistresses. The women in the triangle are usually unhappy and want the man to choose one of them, while the man is seen as having his cake and eating it. But in reality it's both painful and sustaining each of their needs - which is why these triangles last for years and are difficult to break.

This video reveals how the mans upbringing of being fought over makes him repeat it in adult life; and how the women who wanted to be the chosen ones seek out men who are already attached. I explain how triangular relationships allow the man and women to get their needs to feel special and competed over; and describe how going into a two person relationship doesn't "hit the spot."

My neighbor came to me saying that he's in America without any family. I became his friend but I wasn't interested in him romantically. Then he tried to triangulate me with a woman young enough to be my child. Since I wasn't interested in him I didn't catch on, and it didn't bother me. Then he insulted me buy comparing me to her and I left without saying goodbye. I don't fight women over men.

I agree. I learned that it was never the mans fault. It was my fault for accepting hurt/disappointment and staying. I was with him 7 years, l could never prove there was another woman. I was never introduced to his friends or family. I ended it and remained single. Was very hurtful like l wasn't good or smart enough. 😢

Is this applicable for a father, his wife, and his daughter? I believe I was groomed to be a surrogate spouse, like a mistress, or like an intruder in my parents marriage. I was often “dropped” when things were good with my parents (mom’s manipulations) and then picked back up and used as a sounding board/surrogate spouse for him to vent his marital frustrations. This is when we spent the most time together, and on the rare occasion that we would spend time together without mom, she was jealous and would sabotage our interactions by having a tantrum/or suddenly needing him to meet a need that couldn’t wait.

I have two women in my life. I need them both. My first (Ana) I have been with for a year and a half and my new one (Nicole) I have known for a few months now. Nicole and I click and we get along so well. She's known about Ana this whole time, and she would give me advice and help me out with my relationship with Ana when we would have our disputes. Throughout the span of a few months I have known her, Nicole and I have gotten a lot more intimately close. But she wants me to pick between her and Ana and the truth is, I need both of them. I can't see my life without either of them, and she got me to admit to Ana that there was another woman I've been seeing. But at the same time, Ana still wants me. And I can't pick between the 2 and they don't understand it. I can't either because they both love me and I love the both in their own unique way. The fact that Nicole is making me pick bothers me, cuz she says if I don't pick her, she's out. I say okay and then she wants to stay. Ana thinks I don't love her and I do. I do truly and genuinely love both of them and I'm just caught up in the mix. And no one catches my eyes like these 2 beautiful women in my life. And I can't see myself with anyone else, but these 2 gorgeous women. I love them both.

The triangle relationship fairy really got me trapped, I was dating a girl and then broke up with her to start talking to a different girl, and then my ex wanted me back and I wanted her back a little too, so then there is me now with 2 girls that really want me and I'm trying to figure out what to do.
