In this video, we’re going to talk about the amazing benefits of black elderberry.

Black elderberry is a powerful immune system support. It’s particularly good at helping you fight back against viruses.

Black elderberries have been around for ages. People have used them for:
• Reducing pain
• Lowering inflammation
• Decreasing swelling
• Increasing urination
• Reducing gas
• Lowering blood sugars
• Decreasing UV radiation damage
• Reducing uric acid

Today, it is primarily used to support your immune health. Studies show that it can even perform as well as many antiviral medications for the flu.

Black elderberry even has the power to increase a particular cytokine by 44%. In short, this means that it activates your immune system.

Now, keep in mind that you should never consume raw black elderberries. They contain small amounts of cyanide, which can cause some digestive problems. When it’s processed and made into a supplement, the cyanide is completely removed.

Black elderberry is high in a specific group of phytonutrients called anthocyanins (nothing to do with cyanide). This is a great natural remedy for viruses.

Check it out and let me know how it works for you.

My mother used to give me elderberry infusions and call it witchcraft 😅. Jokes aside I’ve never been sick as a kid. The woman knew her stuff.

Homemade Elderberry Syrup:

1 cup dried elderberries
2 cups filtered water
1/2 cup raw local honey

optional add ins:
2 tbsp fresh grated ginger
1 cinnamon stick
1 tsp fresh cloves

Bring the elderberries and water to a boil, along with the other ingredients if desired, then reduce to a simmer and let simmer for 30-45 minutes. Remove from the heat and cover with a lid to let steep for about an hour. Once cooled, strain the elderberries and squeeze all of the liquid out. Squeeze as much as you can out of the berries so the syrup is concentrated. Add in the honey at the end and mix well. Store in the fridge.

I take 1 tablespoon each day, 5 days a week. If I am sick or my immune system feels low, I double that amount.

If you’re on strict keto there are recipes without honey that use vegetable glycerin instead if that’s what you desire. Organic Olivia sells a syrup without sugar!

My mom gave this to me as a child. It is widely used in Poland. Especially in the rural farm lands. It was made into an elixir.

I have been taking black elderberries in gummy form (with zinc) and not got any flu shots or vaccines in the past 4 years. Have not been sick once. Total opposite from before that! I've always wanted to try making the syrup as my friend in another state always! Maybe one day! Thank you so much for sharing, Dr Berg! ❤

For anyone that has a yard or some space, you should definitely plant Elderberry. They grow fast and are easy to propagate, plus they look beautiful in the landscape.

During covid i got extremely sick. Black elderberry, black seed oil, mullein leaf extract and turmeoc in tea helped me out royally. After 5 days of being near death all my mucus went away in about 4 hours. I have not been sick in nearly 3 years, i consume black elderberry and black seed oil everyday in liquid form. Black seed oil is also good for your skin and inflammation

If I feel as though I might be coming down with a touch of a cold, I'll take a strong Tbsp of Elderberry Concentrate. Less than 1g of carbs...it always seems to push me through!! Thank you, Dr Berg, for doing a quick review, though! I always feel better you've given something the green light!

This is indeed excellent stuff.
I use it in capsule form from a company called Wild Sambucus - their product contains 1200 mg per capsule.

I just purchased a bag of organic elderberries yesterday. I made tea last night and making syrup today. I took over the counter all last year but figured I would make my own.

I actually cultivate elderberry. I produce enough syrup for my whole family to have about a tablespoon a day throughout the entirety of cold and flu season. I stick to that regime and I would have to strain to recall the last time I was sick with anything. For those wanting to make your own, be aware that on its own the syrup has a rather musky/mushroomy flavor, and can be sweetened with honey and flavored with cloves without ill effect. Also, if you have more than you're going to use in a couple of months, just freeze the extra or it can mold. I keep all of mine frozen and just scrap about a tablespoon out in the morning to take with my other suppliments.

I learned about elderberry and the flower by going to Scandinavian countries. They put it in various beverages. Tea would be the only keto option. I do have a of bottles of schnapps left. 😁 Unfortunately, all other liquid forms here, are in a sweet syrup. I’d been taking the syrup once per week, and drinking the tea daily, when I got a milder version of the office cold. I had a small cough, I didn’t need cough medicine. It was gone in about 7 days. Everyone else was on an antibiotic, and sick for weeks.

Just yesterday I had a head fever I caught from a friend.. It was so bad couldn’t move much because it made my muscles weak. I made some elderberry tea last night and I also put in fresh sorrel, cinnamon leaves and squeezed a wild grapefruit in it. Today I feel AMAZING!! I did woke up and spit out this nasty looking mucous also pooped it out lol. I also soaked in epsom salt water and got a lot of rest. Idk if this also helped but i took my phone off of 5g and switched to LTE. I also and listened to asmr and relaxing musical videos to stay asleep. I didn’t eat yesterday much other than fruits and today I had spinach and rice to get food in my system. Hope this helps anyone else!!!
