Ukraine War: Mariupol mayor claims Russian troops 'intentionally' targeted evacuees

Vadym Boychenko, the mayor of Mariupol, has claimed that Russia deliberately targeted people gathering to escape the besieged city.

He was speaking this afternoon in a media briefing about the city.

See those on the ground in Mariupol such as Patrick Lancester (UK) and French independent journalist. There are more and more speculation of western fighters trapped in the AZOV Steel Plant in Mariupol.

From other channels, and from their direct conversation with the civilians still residing in Mariupol, they say that their Mayor fled from Mariupol at the start of invasion and he was/is not available for any help from him/administration. There is no communication between him and civilians.

If this Mayor is still in Mariupol, he would already be captured by the DPR forces, so he is probably in Kiev or somewhere in the western area. To those who really want to know what is happening in Mariupol, look for Patrick Lancaster videos - he does interviews and evacuations & bringing humanitarian aids to the citizen still living there. Some can't leave, some just won't leave because it's their only home, but many of them have evacuated to other cities in the Donbas region or in Russia territory - either to their relatives or some refugee facilities.
