I just started my business a few months back. I decided to become legit with LLC, insurance and license. I should have did that a lot sooner. I’m on track now to hopefully leave my day job come spring time.
I’m definitely curious on the subcontracting. There’s jobs I have to turn down because they are too big for one person. It wouldn’t be cost effective to hire me but if I sub it out they would get it done a lot sooner. That would still put money in my pocket and make it seem I’m capable of getting any job done no matter what.

I'm at the same place you were at before doing building maintenance. They've got me doing everything from making specialty toys for disabled kids, to mowing lawns, gardening, landscaping, clearing snow, painting, welding, fixing lights, fixing toilets, to full on renovations with flooring, new drywall walls, electrical, running data cables, they even have me making excel spreadsheets for administration. The pay was good before the pandemic at 24/hr, but now I'm starting to question if it is even worth it coming home exhausted everyday for a wage that never kept up with inflation. Can't even qualify for a home mortgage. Might have to look at doing what you did.
