I'm super excited to share with you guys an interview I did with Brian who is a talented software developer and also one of my best friends growing up.

We covered a range of topics including how he learned to code, how he got his first job and other topics that anyone who wants to become a developer must see!

I watched each and EVERY video of yours until now and none of them have disappointed me so far. I am really thankful to you for putting honesty and your hard work out there for people like us who are trying to get their first job or wanting to know where to start from, and tbh, you motivated me to 'seriously' get started on my journey to become an Engineer! Also, this video was amazing!!! Thanks to you and Brian.

FINALLY, I understand why I've heard the advice 'just start', which I see given to people who ask the question, "what programming language should I start with". The example Brian gave about the wooden floor and just learning one plank first has clarified the reasoning about getting started and the 'specific' language isn't necessarily the only important factor.

Andy, your friend sounds very humble and glad things worked out for him through it all :)

Really awesome interview Andy. This kind of content is raw, honest, and immensely motivating for those of us transitioning from other careers.

Andy I watched almost all your videos but this is the first time I felt commenting. This is a really helpful interview for people like me considering to take a bootcamp. You should do more stuff like this which involves nothing but honest opinions from nice people like Brian. Besides it's nice to hear experiences of different people. Thanks!

Great interview. I'm an aspiring developer. I've gotten great advice by listening to the struggles/mistakes because they're not obvious to newbies. Example (code everyday; stop jumping from language to language; again code EVERYDAY)

Imposter syndrome. Had that when I started and still having to this day. I had this question on stackoverflow. I had this overwhelming feeling that I don't belong. One guy commented that it comes with the job. A friend of mine, had that feeling before but did not even know what it was called. He said, he just work hard. Whenever someone would ask him about something, or say something that he does not know, he would keep that in his head and once home, he would google it and study about it.

Anyway thanks for this video. The guy gave an amazing advice dealing with imposter syndrome

Nice talk here. I'm a self taught web designer (heavy on the design aspect). HTML, CSS, responsive design using bootstrap or unsemantic is easy. I've always struggled terribly with Javascript and have given up so many times with diving into javascript and banging my head against the wall until I figure it out.

I'm on the path of learning code and I am really enjoying it and retaining but I don't have the time and money to go to a boot camp. I would a full time job and I really want to dive in to this field but I need advice as to how to get to where I need and want to be within a year..
