Hello everyone, and welcome back to another thrilling and mind-blowing episode with Marvelous Videos. Get your horror gear on, because today we have one of the scariest movies for you. The plot of this movie has been created with so much originality and thunder, that it is surely going to give you a lot of goosebumps.
Absentia is a supernatural horror film, which was released in 2011. It is directed, written, and edited by the amazing Mike Flanagan, who is known for making horror films. The excellent production has been done by FallBack Plan Productions. Now, because the movie is called Absentia, it is pretty clear that the film is going to be about someone’s death.
Well, let’s just say that it is not how easy the film is going to proceed. Sure, there are deaths involved, that is right, more than one death, but how it takes place is going to blow your mind.

Doug Jones is the man on the floor in the tunnel. A very under-rated actor who is amazing in the roles he plays

Weird. The thumbnail is from Don’t be afraid of the dark 😐 MV I already like your videos. Don’t resort to cheap tricks.

Loved it more than 10 years ago. Amazing what can be done on a low budget. I still think about this film form time to time and I'm glad I saw this video. Absentia is a rare gem.

Can aspects of this be better? Sure. But this was a solid horror film. It leaves in all the mystery, and the accidental trade thing when it made sense was just SO cool. The creature was never fully shown, it didn't need an explanation as to why it's doing what it's doing - It's just is.

I think 90% of all paranormal/supernatural horror films really miss the mark for me because they show the creature/ghost/demon on the screen too long, they explain why evil is trying to do evil things to you (it's like trying to find an enlightening meaning in the existence of mountains, AKA pointless), and most of various movies' attempts to show characters trying to "defeat" this evil by reading from a spellbook or something just feels like they're doing some quest from an RPG game.

I think horror movies like these need certain elements to make them work and there is a narrow-ish line to toe before it turns tacky and stupid. For what this movie is, I really, really like it a lot, because it does do a lot of things very right.

Doug Jones is the man when it comes to playing inhuman characters.
Him and Del Toro are the perfect combo to scare the shit out of you.

This is an awesome movie! I saw it a few years back and have rewatched it a few times since then because I liked it so much. Definitely one of my favorites.

I used to walk through those tunnels going to and from school. They're very spooky and I never wanted to spend much time in them. There are two in the Sherman Oaks area of the San Fernando Valley running underneath the Ventura Freeway (US101). I know of others in Studio City and I think Burbank but none in Glendale that I know of. They were always dimly lit...

I really enjoyed this movie and watched it more often than many other films of this genre. Highly recommended.

I love this movie. I've never met anyone else who actually knew this movie. Now I hope that you do a video on The Possession of David O'Reilly

When it comes to fae and other supernatural beings the one thing that is always reiterated... never make a deal with them. They always find ways to twist the words.

Ok so my question is if Callie traded with the creature which caused the creature to release Daniel then why did the creature come and take Daniel back? One could say that it was not an equal trade so at most Daniels release from the other world was only meant to be temporary however this would also not explain why the creature would then take Trisha shortly after that. I mean if Trisha had gone into the tunnel afterwards and the creature took her out of convenience then id understand that. Any thoughts on this?

Seams to me it has more in common with the "we mustn't look at goblin men we mustn't eat their fruits" story.

I'm curious what the monster does when someone movies to another city or out of the country? 🤔

It’s not a bad movie but it shows how Mike Flanagan moved forward a long way in a sort time- Absentia to Doctor Sleep and Midnight Mass.

So, yeah… I love the channel but don’t tell us something is scary. Show us or let us come to that conclusion ourselves…. In this particular vid the narrator just kept saying what was scary to him… but that doesn’t make it scary.
