Why I Quit Creating Content, and Why You Should Start.

This is a video about content creation. Well, a video about content creators and my return to making videos and hosting live streams. It's a bit of outreach on why I stopped, and why I felt I should continue and make some new things.

In this video I talk through some of my thoughts on content creation and where it's gone over the past few years. Some thoughts about why people should consider content creation and what it really means. This video kind of doubles as an announcement video for my return to Youtube.

Fun fact - I started my YT channel after watching a Devin Nash video a few years back. 2 years later, sitting over 100k subs and building a nice spot in the Marvel space on YT. I'm sure I am far from the only dude in this comment section who took inspiration from you. Thanks a ton!

Started a video editing tutorial channel in 2020 and your work was extremely motivating especially in that initial stretch of building a library of valuable work. Building a business alongside that selling plugins and templates has put me right in the creator economy middle class even as a relatively modest niche channel. Thanks for your work.

9:21 been loving your stuff for over 4 years now Devin. I usually feel like most marketers are kinda dumb, but your analytical takes are always so refreshing.

The criticism on the phrase content creation is valid. So many people in the gun content space that are completely soulless

Started my YouTube channel a few years ago thanks to your work! Now I try and use that influence to benefit the speedrunning community by spreading awareness and promoting the positive aspects of our little community

I'm a simple man. I see a new Devin Nash video posted and I sit, watch, learn, and become a better person, and streamer. Thank you Devin.

One thing that I enjoy about Devin Nash videos is that he has a very calming voice.
There's a shocking amount of videos, especially the "look at this idiot" style content where the creator is just upset, or irritated, and that gets me upset/ irritated.
Then there's the hype videos where the high energy content creator is showing a clip every 4 seconds. Yes they are entertaining, but I don't want to have to focus on the screen to be able to understand what message of the video is.
I'm just pointing this out that some content creators make it look easier than it is. We all reap the benefits of Devin Nash's Zen Buddhism, in that we can toss these video on the background while working, and come out at the end of it calmer and more inspired from listening to him speak. There's just not enough content going around like this, possibly because youtube algorithm buries it in exchange for more the former high engagement stuff.

I think you worded it wrong at 11:30. Correctly: "There will never be a time where I will regret making valuable things"

I really love how you switch the language from content creation to story telling. It helps piece it better on what we should strive to do whenever creating something.

The long watch callout, always know that the good information comes from watching a whole Devin Nash video. Thanks for keeping everything real in the creative space.

I never really liked the word "influencer". It sounded more like a term of manipulation rather than engagement. So i considered prefering the term, "inspirer".
That being said, it's what held me back from committing to working on a channel. I haven't figured out what i can provide to "inspire."
Still figuring out my "why". Why do i make content?

I started this channel and your content was a huge help in not only getting me over that initial hump of getting no viewers, but getting more motion that I thought possible even in my wildest dreams. Haven't been able to dedicate as much time as I want to Youtube these past couple of years but this has still been a life-changing experience. Appreciate your content a lot!

Devin Nash always on the ball. Anyone can make content, providing value is more difficult but much more rewarding.

I can listen to you talk for hours. You’re so insightful. You can upload without setting up the camera and upload from voice memos if you want to be more casual. Not many people do it like Devin Nash

"I've never met anybody that isn't interesting." Damn Devin, I literally sat here watching this whole video thinking, "I don't have anything interesting to say." What a simple way to tell me to shut up and start telling stories. 🙂

thank you. have had a paralyzing fear of being misunderstood that i've been working on letting go. i want people to fully understand where i come from when i convey a complex / outlier thought, and that i can consider thoughts & perspectives without believing them myself. but there will always be people who just won't get it, whether by worldview or stupidity or just amount of effort required to get on the same page. i also introspect and evolve dramatically, so what i published 9 months ago may not be what's congruent with me today, and so on. but fuckit, i just made some old rants public and will keep going forward. love u
