🔥 Do you ride with an air or a coil fork? 🔥

Well.. At last I've see a video with someone telling me in simple words which is the way to go with your front forks on a E-bike/ mountain bike, I already adjusted my forks by letting out some air & was ok with how it handled, but now that I know that I've done the right thing I'm happy .Thanks again for the east way you explain things.🙂👍

It's too bad they don't really make any high-end coil Forks anymore. A high-end Air Force versus a high-end coil Fork, very debatable which one is better.

Those adjustments are not at all the main difference between air and coil. LOTS of coil forks have those adjustments. You dont mention the difference between ride characteristics between the two types of springs, which are the actual main difference

Can the airfork still be locked out if it has no air in it?

Uhhh, man i have a question, idk what type of suspension my mtb uses, is it coil or air. Well can't adjust it without using a socket wrench and there's no adjustment like that you showed at 2:04. I use a rhino mtb

I don't know what type of fork i have on my ebike, it has a blue lock/open knob on the right and a preload adjustment on the left.

Problem I am having with selecting an air fork is I am limited to a strait steer tube and I am a 235lb bodybuilder. The "ONLY" shock I found was one from Fox and its $1K for a 100mm travel 32mm XC air fork but has air setting for my specific body weight and beyond. BUT back ordered till god knows when maybe years from now. There is one at my bike shop from Rockshoks I think its a recon. Same specs (nearly) and its 1/4 the price. But on the air chart on the shock it just says put "x' amount of air for a 200lb + rider. Would this shock work for my body weight? Or will I destroy it because I am to heavy?
The Suntor XC spring shock I have now feels like a pogo stick.

What do you suggest for ebike body frame like bmx style (bike)weight is roughly 70lb

Is there a significant weight difference between the two?

What about the weight difference, lets say in a 29er, is it a big difference in weight?

Hello dear youtuber, I have a question I am purchasing a bike with an SR Suntour XCM30 120mm front shock with 2 settings lockout and preload and I'm curious whether I can take off the preload cap thing and switch it for one with another colour.

I've always been resistant to switch to air. My problem is not the technology, it is better in pretty much every way except for the fact that a coil is steel, and "steel is real". for a coil to fail you really have to do so much damage to the fork that it won't be a fork anymore at that point. With air, the pressure chamber has failure points that can trigger when a consumable part just... Rots. Rubber doesn't last that long, and while spring coils also use rubber seals, they will continue to work without them, an air fork will just splat down. Not to mention that it makes maintenance a pain.

So I guess that what I meant to say is, seeing how the price for these types of forks has dropped so much, I would really like for someone to convince me that these preconceptions I have about them are overblown or misguided.

Do I need to buy the super special o-rings and rubber dust boots/dust wipers from the manufacturer at extortionate rates? Or can I just go to the hardware store and get o-rings and they work just fine? Can I improvise a dust seal using foame like I used to do on my old oil/spring fork?

This is important to me because I believe in future proofing. If I see a product I know I can't mantain or fix when it brakes, it's just not very appealing to me. Will I be able to pick up one of these air forks in 30 years time and overhaul them back into 80%-90% of their original performance without issue like I do with seized, rusted over MTB coil forks from the early 90s now?

how do they differ in terms of maintenance?
