Luckly, the best coil spring forks are the cheapest, like Suntour XCM without lockout: These forks have 2 springs and no dampening, making their response as quick and soft as an air fork. You eventually get nearly the same terrain reading, especially on the high frequency bumps, for a way lower price. The only situation were the tein spring forks aren't so good is the very low height and high frequency bumps, which do not provide enough intensity to excite the springs. Coil forks w/ a hydraulic cartridge in the other hand are awful: The dampener retards their response making it not ready for the next bump, eventually making them not to work on mid to high frequency bumps.
