This (album) song was a staple in all of the concerts with Tony Bennett and the "Cheek To Cheek" tour. There were and are many amateur tapes of many of these and they prove that she was GREAT in all of them. This, however, has the best sound quality. Good grief, you just can't compare the interpretation and vocal intonations and spot on emotion to anyone else who ever did this difficult but incredible Billy Strayhorn song. She has mastered it like nobody else ever did, as I see it. Others did come close but with this range. In my humble opinion, this has become her song. Many Little Monsters really need to discover how great her voice is due to her superb interpretations of some of the most iconic jazz songs she has covered, not to mention, "La Vie En Rose." It is truly amazing. There are way too many people (fans included), especially in rag mags who write this period of her singing as a kind of "safe patch" type of thing between her pop albums. It is far from it. This period, with Tony (the king of vocal jazz) is such an accurate portrayal of how incredible her voice is. There really are few people who can cover these songs, in any way, closer than she does. One must also keep in mind, this girl was only 29 years old at this time and she sings this stuff like someone who has certainly been through it and would know the pain. I am such a fan because I not only LOVE her writing, Pop Rock, Punk stuff, but this as well. It is truly the greatest.

How am I just now seeing this spectacular performance? Good God. Her voice here, the emotion, she is such a timeless class act. I've loved Gaga since her The Fame days and to see how she's won over an entire new demographic with this type of performance makes me so happy. Her fan base now spans from ages 10-100 and I can't think of any other artist of this time who has accomplished that. Talent wins, ladies, gentleman, and every beautiful soul in between!
