As a service technician, I want to thank you for this video. Because, it is extraordinarily difficult not to break hot surface igniter when replacing one, let alone when trying to remove it while still attached to the burner frame. I see lots of hot surface igniter’s being purchased and replaced.

Dirty burners, particularly on older furnaces, will prevent your furnace from staying running at times. If corrosion and soot create blockages in the exit side, your furnace will ignite, then shut down with a failure to allow the blower unit to kick on. Once the furnace makes its 6 attempts with a failure, it will stop trying to ignite until you reset the thermostat. Go clean them burners out and do it thorough.

How often do you need to clean the burners and how do you know if they need to be cleaned?

Would dirty burners cause the furnace to be loud. Becouse when the furnace gas burners kick on its really loud in the garage.

In 50 yrs I’ve never seen a “dirty burner” make a gas appliance malfunction. Fuel oil… different story. Clean your fuel oil gun and burners annually.
