As a Scandinavian (Norwegian), I still remember the first time I read the (Swedish) book this movie is based on - and the whole story is just hilarious and heartwarming. Truly one of the best books I ever read. Also the Swedish film, was just brilliant.

Now that Hollywood is going to make its own version of this story, I’m glad they did it just by picking Tom Hanks for the main role - he’s perfect for it.

That scene from "A man called Otto" is actually funny and touching at the same time. "You gave birth to two children, you learned a new language, you will have no problem learning how to drive". Can't wait to watch the movie!

Steve's story about starting in 2nd reminded me of my old friend Walter. Born in the 1890s, so didn't really grow up w/ cars . He drove everywhere in 2nd, kept the revs up always, and controlled his speed w/ the clutch . We lived on a small island, so he never went far (just store and home, really ) He replaced the clutch quite often . He was British and was in both big wars . I have a hunch he learned to drive on some sort of tracked vehicle . There was always a cloud of smoke around the car .A wonderful guy .
