As a family man. This is very important, no matter how irritating or boring the stories are, essentially you are bonding and developing a sense of character for your loved ones. You learn stuff that you wouldn't have known if you just ignored them or were selfish. All my daughter talks about is Minecraft. I don't know crap about that game, it's not that interesting (I'm a RPG type guy, I love Skyrim), but with me listening, I started to find some cool stuff about Minecraft and to top it off, my daughter LOVES to build things and be creative. She's very artsy ❤. Now I took that knowledge to know what type of gifts to buy her and talking topics. Best of all, I play with her and she loves it 😊.

Scrolling through this comment section makes me realize a lot of people have not actually watched much of the show, cause a lot of people are saying this is the only tame he was a good dad/husband

Homer, unlike all the copy cats, makes up for his idiocy and impulsiveness by going above and beyond for his family when push comes to shove. There are countless episodes where he does amazing things, going to insane lengths, just for marge or one of the kids.

He loves them, more than anything else, and when he makes a mistake he goes out of his way to fix it. Its part of why the simpsons will last longer than the copy cats, because at the end of the day the characters, at least the main family, have more depth than their surface archetypes, and they are genuinely endearing characters.
