I have a Jamis Renegade made of chromoly steel. It's definitely great for vibration damping and price!

The only reason I'd settle for a non-competitive steel frame "adverture" bike and not get the alu/carbon alternative, would be the price.
But here we've got a £5, 5 bike that weighs more than 11 kg...? No thanks.

I'd love to see you review the ritchey outback, I know for testers they build it up with ritchey components, to me the outbacks the ultimate steel gravel bike

Yikes, that weight and cost. you could get a decent carbon bike for that!
Heck you can get a rival 1x titanium bike for that !! 5, 495 pounds ?! Wow wee. these bike prices nowadays.

I’m debating a Cinelli Nemo TIG Gravel to use mostly on the road with slicks but take on the odd gravel/adventure excursion. I’m a little worried about the weight and ride feel (I’ve never ridden steel before!) but everything else about that bike just seems tailor made for me

Question: What do you call a person who wants to beat all other riders on each day out?

Wow, I'm not even going to fake it here. These bikes are ugly. The geometry (my guess is suspension corrected) just looks way off. The paint schemes are nice, but it still isn't even in the same neighborhood as your Fairlight Secan, David

£5500 or EUR 6000, - for a steel gravel bike with RS Rudy, Made in Scotland? Gee, what happened to the prices? I can get a Canyon Grizl with a RS Rudy for EUR 1999, - and Made in Germany.

I'd rather have 650b wheels with fatter tires than a suspended fork on a gravel bike... If you need that kind of fork (and a dropper post...), you're doing XC so why don't you get a proper and more capable XC bike ???

You either get it or you don't and from some of the comments, a lot of people don't. This is not going to appeal to the masses and those people that think the parts bolted onto the frame are the whole story. It's not. It's all about that frame and how it's built. Quality costs time and money.

That price is an absolute joke. Can buy an SL7 expert in Australia for that.
