Thank you professor, flor showing the obvious that we sometimes can not see.

Fantastic job. However, I preferred the solution, including sin^2 x + cos^2 x = 1. If we put our value of sin x, we will get cos x = 15/17 or cos x = -15/17 but since x is in range pi/2 to pi cos x will be negative. Also, we know that tan x = sin x/ cos x and if we put our sin and cos value we will get the answer 8/-15

I must be super rusty with this stuff, because I have watched so many of your videos and I feel like I’m just missing something when you talk about these things. Love these. Will keep watching nonetheless!

Really great job. This guy makes you love mathematics.

it is so obvious that your mind ignores it. its like your eyes ignoring the nose which is there constantly.

It wasn't the hardest question, however, the explanation was really good. The explanation is so exemplary, that people who hate math or never seen trig could easily understand, what was asked and how the solution is found. Teach on professor, teach on. 👍🏽

I know this request may take a long time, but can you make playlists for certain math? Like for example, graphing, analysis, quadratics, basics, etc
So that it's easier to access certain things

Or just remember that tangent is negative in the 2nd quadrant

I ought to have memorized my Pythagorean triangles. I tried to do it without that by using sin^2+cos^2=1, and then sin/cos=tan. I got tan theta equals eight over (seventeen times the square root of (1 - (8/17)^2)). And I just had the oddest feeling that that wasn't it.

can anyone tell me why the triangle in 2 quadrant is drawn like that and not use an axis as side of the triangle.

can triangle also be -8, 15 (x, y), also in same quadrant ?

I understood the question very well but is still confused is it a digital board or a traditional black board?

1) The angle you are drawing in the triangle is incorrect it is not theta it is (pi - theta) since theta is between 90° and 180° in the condition meaning it's an obtuse not the acute angle pi - theta.
2) distance can never be negative by definition.
The result is the same but theta is not equal to pi - theta and if you want it to be negative it should be -(pi-theta) but theta itself can't be in the triangle you drawing.
