Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis gave an update on Hurricane Milton rescue and recovery efforts Thursday, noting that 340 people and 49 pets have been rescued since the storm's landfall Wednesday night. The governor also said that inland flooding caused by the storm in central and northern parts of the state has blocked key roadways. Energy companies are working to restore power to the estimated three million residents in the dark.

Even though the schools will open “quickly”, I hope they have grace for those students who were hit hard by the hurricanes, tornadoes, flooding. It is beautiful seeing how communities are coming together to support one another through everything. My prayers for all.🙏🏾

He did not even mention FEMA assistance for the Floridians. Another help that people would benefit to ease the financial burden.

Ya'll who are commenting negatively about Gov Desantis are probably not even from FLA. He is giving useful information to ppl affected by this hurricane and YOU are making it political

Bottom line unless you have the money to afford a hurricane proof home, it would be a fool's errand to think you can afford to live in Florida

EVERYONE WHO WENT THROUGH THIS MESS PAT YOURSELVES ON THE BACK. GOVERNOR DESANTIS PRODUCED RESULTS AND IS TALKING ABOUT WHAT THEY HAVE DONE. SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD GUY TO ME. ONE WHOM EVERYONE CAN PROUDLY RELY ON IN HARD TIMES.

That could been prevented if he had mobilized days before the hurricane touch. FL deserves better this individual how he talks about Floridians is like he doesn’t care because he is going after their properties for those that can’t repair their homes and also he fail to prepare them.

People are hurting, but De Santis can't stop playing politics for even one second. He needs to give the federal government due credit. Florida costs so much federal money because it's disaster prone. Homeowners insurance companies are fleeing the state. Florida will eventually need the govt to step in to insure these homes within the next 20 years.
