As a Finn, I would like to thank Putin for pushing Finland to join Nato. The decision to apply for Nato membership in 2022 is the only thing all Finnish political parties have ever truly agreed upon.

Putin: "I've got tactical nukes"
Finland: "we have Nokia 3310."
Putin: " look man, I dont want no trouble okay. Have a nice day"

I'm American and I'm proud to have Finland as an ally. One of the few European countries that can hold it's own.

I spent 17 years patrolling that border as a member of Finland's Border Guard K9 patrols.

When the Soviet Union collapsed, it took them two years to replace the Hammer and Sickle flag with their white, blue and red rag, I mean flag at Vaalimaa border station.

The first time it rained the blue dye was washed out of their flag completely - it's almost as if we were suddenly on Polland's border.

They kept that flag flying for a good six months. That did not bode well...

Putin: 'You turned Finland against me!'

NATO: 'You have done that yourself!'

Putin has no reason to be scared since NATO is a defensive alliance. He's just annoyed that his imperial ambitions are evaporating quickly.

"si vis pacem, para bellum"—"If you want peace, prepare for war" Finland is strong, independent, and very capable. As an American, i welcome Finland with open arms as we try to usher in an era of peace, love, and solidarity.❤❤

As a former US Marine I can tell you I have heard very few people tell me about training with the Finns. But all of the ones who did train with them agreed those are some tough, rugged people lol. With a low population, a history of being invaded by hostile neighbors & an environment that is constantly trying to freeze them to death it's no wonder those people with vikings as ancestors are true warriors when they choose to fight! A fine addition to NATO.

I’m a Finnish citizen who was part of our military reserves back in 2008 and haven’t had a reserv training in years. As 37 right as we joined Nato I got a fresh base camp training call.. seems our country is very serious about this

We Finns have always seen Russia as a threat, and always will. However, during the cold war we played friends with Soviet Union and let them interfere in our politics in order for us to maintain independence and neutrality. In retrospect, this period of "finlandizing" is often considered a shameful chapter in our history. But actually, it tought us something important, which I think is the very reason Finland is now a member of Nato but Sweden is not. Make no mistake: Finns are no less sad about the state of democracy in Turkiye and Hungary than Swedes. But living next to Russia, we have learned that sometimes compromizing some of your values is the only way to protect other values of greater importance. Many of us feel we cannot afford playing a moral world police, we just want to maintain peace in our own country at any price.

I am sorry for the Russian people. Hundreds of years of terribly corrupt leadership. After the fall of USSR, I had hope for Russia, but Putin just had to hold this grudge against the West. Many American's feel the same as I do. We want the best for the Russian people. We don't want war. We want to live in peace. Hope we can get there somehow.
