You might have heard about Uri Geller, the illusionist who had a lawsuit against Nintendo/Game Freak and their use of the Pokemon Kadabra. But do you know who Uri Geller is, and what his case against Nintendo was. It turns out, he does have a decent case against them. But why did he do it, and have there been other people with similar reasons to sue Nintendo? And why, after 20 years, is Geller releasing his ban on Kadabra?

Was aware of this controversy already, but was nice to learn a couple of extra tidbits of information here and there as well as to see other points of view. Thank you for making sure a thorough and well-made video. Happy Kadabra might be coming back to the TCG. ☺️

7:48 I love that the picture they used is from "Electric Soldier Porygon", I guess they were like "ahh yes... more controversy!"

Wait how does this only have 600 views? The production of this video is deserving of way way more

I knew the background of this whole ordeal, but great job covering the controversies! Personally, I think it's great he finally understands, and I somewhat understand why he reacted they way he did... there were a few parents in my school growing up who said Pokémon should be banned from recess and stuff because it was promoting animal cruelty and occult behavior.

I had no idea Kadabra was halted. I mean... they are still technically produced in the pokemon games, aren't they? Seriously, I don't understand his logic. I wouldn't be angry and try to sue someone who held me in high regards as to base a character off of me. And "Dark Kadabra" was one of many dark pokemon. There were also regular kadabra cards. Kadabra was very well known to being one of the GREATEST psychic pokemon there ever was and is still a fan favorite. It's also more cuddley than it's evolution. Do you see that fluffy looking tale? Uri Geller only "released" the ban because he realized he could get more popularity. He should have thought of that when he was first approached in Japan with TONS of people asking for his autograph and realize the pokemon was only "Dark" because it was handled by dark people.

Starting with the fourth gen games, Kadabra has a unique quirk where the everstone will not stop him from evolving. Since he evolves by trading, it's impossible to get a Kadabra from a trade, as it will always immediately evolve into Alakazam. I can only assume they did this to further decrease the amount of exposure Kadabra gets.

I have no sympathy for Nintendo about this, considering how many times they've threatened legal action against non-profit fan games.

I will always be Team Randi, RIP, but I'll give Geller credit for settling. I just wonder what Kadabra's triumphant return to the card game and anime will be. We last saw Alakazam in Vivid Voltage, but how long will we have to wait til they design and print a set of cards post-unban?

Well I learned something new. Thank you. I never cared for this Pokemon anyway. He/She is just there for Pokedex completion. I just wish for the fictional media to stop making fictional characters based off from real people. It can be annoying and they may face lawsuit trouble like this one.

Honestly, who the fuck cares? I would be happy knowing that a HUGE gaming company parodied me based on what iam good at. I didn't know about this until now and iam 30. Pokemon was at its prime during my childhood and even I didn't know about this lawsuit.

Its too late for you, 20 years too late. You WILL ALWAYS be known as the guy who stopped Kadabra from appearing on the shows no WONDER I never saw it again on the cards and the show.

You demonstrate that they literally used his name but yet somehow the video still casts Geller as the bad guy, an opportunist.

I think that's purely bias on your part and you should've created a more objective video. Sure he may want to show off his museum now, but his name has been branded on merchandise and been made millions off of since 1996.
