For information : it was Col. Remy van Lierde and they were in a helicopter. The snake did not attack, but rose 3m (10ft.) in a striking position. The pilot says that had they been closer the snake would have struck. The snake was about 20m (50ft.) long.

I did Missionary work in Papua New Genie and the Helicopter pilot who was a Missionary pilot told us a true story how he was heading back to the airstrip from the jungle and suddenly his Helicopter starting sputtering and he began to search for a spot to land, which is hard to find in the jungle by the way, as he was looking for a clear spot he notice what he thought were airplane tires and there was a clear spot in that area and when he landed he called in for assistance and they said it would be about a hour/half before they could get to him. So he decided to go to area where he seen what he thought were tires from a airplane, which he also thought was a war plane that crashed in the jungle. As he hacked his way thru, he saw the tire and hacked his way towards, as he looked to see how close he was to it, it moved. Then he realized he needed to get away quickly and he did make it back to his Helicopter. So, a snake the size of a airplane tire would have been a huge snake.

Colonel Percy Fawcett documented two different snakes he saw in the Brazilian rainforest, one 65 ft and one at 72 ft. He was a British army surveyor and engineer, this was in the early 1920s, his diaries were published after his death.

During Jungle Warfare School in Panama (back in the day), they had a zoo of animals we could encounter in the jungle. It included an anaconda that was about 30 ft long (if memory serves). It came from Colombia originally but the story was the cadre were training in Colombia and were patrolling through the jungle and decided to take a break and rested his foot on a log... then the log moved. There was a picture showing a bunch of army guys holding a giant snake and the loops between them would droop to the ground and then held by another guy and then droop to the ground again. They told us they fed it 10 chickens at a time during feeding. Was a crazy big snake.

"It was 100 foot! He verified it!" a few moments later "It was 50 foot long!" Maybe had the guy flown by another time it would be a 25 footer.

I worked as a carney all over the south & Gulf Coast in the late '80s/early '90s & one of our attractions was a 26ft albino anaconda weighing around 250-300lbs ✌💖☮

I remember this photo was featured on Arthur C. Clarkes Mysterious World show episode Dragons, Dinosaurs and Giant Snakes. It was mentioned that the snake was at least 40 feet after the photo was analyzed. They also interview the Colonel who saw it on the show.

It wasn't during WWII, it was during the 50s. They were flying in a helicopter.

The stories in the comment section are actually more interesting than the video. Don’t care if they’re real or not, I just love a good story.

Joe needs to do his own animal documentaries.

They measured the snake by the giant termite hills all around it.

Largest snake I handled is 23 ft x 3ft around, Reticulated named Buttercup, our shop owned her for almost 20 years. Largest Green Anaconda I worked with was 18 ft. Largest Burmese, 20ft. I have worked with every large snake and Buttercup was the largest snake I have ever seen. Just massive and could have eaten a few of our workers with ease. There is still a million dollar reward for ANY reptile 30 ft or bigger. As far as I know it has never been claimed....but still waiting!

Seeing photos like this brings a fear in me that Titanoboa might still exist.

“100 foot!” -> 49 foot.
Makes me wonder what else he’s got wrong.

Apparently, there's large creatures in the Congo ( dog size spiders, Small dinosaurs ) I think the Congo is where time stopped.
