A big mean sea can be deadly scary with the wrong captain. This captain is experienced letting the stem fall off, rolling the waves 1/4 point to port side and maintaining steerage. I've been through rougher inlets in a smaller boat many times. Coming back with waves following is much worse. I have seen waves break into the cockpit of a 42ft Post coming in an inlet. The captain throttled down when he should've powered up, and we were 3 waves behind the Post when the next wave pitch poled them and our 32ft trawler missed them by a foot as we passed them, riding on the 3rd wave.
