True words. I would be curious to know what his thoughts were on if a director makes suggestions to the writer but they don't want to incorporate them?

In answer to the question, sometimes you don't always get the chance to fix things prior to production being hired as a director. So I try to use the principles I apply to writing to directing a scene in order to put conflict into a scene that I was not able to get in before production...ideally it gets fixed on the page first, though. (sigh)
