Protective Shield for Mars colony (Lego wedo 2.0)

Показать описание
In 2015 NASA announced that there is evidence of water existence in planet Mars. This triggered scientists’ interest for the red planet even more since new perspectives opened up towards the next great step of humanity, the colonization of planet Mars.
In order to contribute to these ambitious plans, a team of young scientists (pupils of the 6th grade of Elementary school) studied all the information about the conditions in Mars and then designed and created a colony –dome inside which human beings could properly survive. In an attempt to overcome the problem of protecting the dome from solar and cosmic radiation, as well as from meteorites which penetrate the thin atmosphere of the red planet, the pupils created an automatic electric shield, activated with a telescope-sensor which is constantly invigilating space.
This work is an automated system which functions with motion sensors, tilt sensors and Lego motors. These were combined by the pupils of Vytina Elementary school during this school year’s program “Playing with Protons”. The project received great distinctions in the Educational Robotics competition and in “Athens Science Festival 2018”.
