It would be great if when you add a tag that a drop down list of all the tags appears to choose from! Till now I've just added words (Tags) to the file name. Love you videos - thx

Sound advise & works well. Can you build a 'tag library' so that you can import the tag or tags rather than typing them in each time?

I've started to do this, but isn't naming the file the same thing if you're using the same keywords? They're still searchable either way right?
Also can you tag video files? The meta data doesn't come up to edit like it does a photo on windows?

It sucks that they updated the explorer so you can't edit any data through the side panel anymore, you have to go through the properties which adds extra steps when doing this.
It makes the process slower especially when you have to sort so many photos in a random order, and can't really do batch groupings.
You were doing so good windows, then you had to take it away...

Amanda, unfortunately "Option 2" is not available anymore in Windows 11 after the latest update, the "Ratings" and "Tags" are not displayed in the pane, everything else appears to be displayed. Why does MS make thing harder for the us all to use.

Tags do not apear on my files for some reason. There is no way for me to tag anything. The option doesnt show up even under details of a file.

The 'update' to Windows Explorer is certainly a retrograde step. However: in may ways the omission of tagging in the Windows Photo App is more significant in my view. Being able to sort, tag &c. in a single application as it was in the Gallery app for example made sense.

This video is misleading. The title is "How to add tags in windows explorer" - implying and inferring that you can easily add tags to ANY file or file type. Then you go right into tagging photos without adding a disclaimer that this ONLY works with photo files and not just any file. I do not see any of the options shown in any of your screen captures when I right-click on files in Windows Explorer. This is, unfortunately, a common problem with these tutorial vids - no one bothers to mention it is limited to photo files or that there are other steps you need to take if you want to extend this feature to other types of files. I've wasted mega minutes of my time going through tutorial vids, hoping someone - anyone - would buy a clue and mention that, and they all just assume that all the viewers just instinctively know you can only do this with photos, and that that is the only kind of file anyone would ever care about tagging. UGH. So frustrating. 🙁
