A short list of meat-based dishes that I would suggest may be more confusing to the uninformed than any "meat" that has "vegan" or "vegetarian" as a pre-fix. "Meat" itself is not necessarily indicative of animal-based products. A dirty hippy did not make up "nut meat" to describe the inside of a seed or nut.

I’m convinced these people that get upset at vegan food using meat signifiers are just lashing out bc they’ve tried to convince themselves there is no alternative to their fav meat based foods. The suggestion that there could be a replacement product deeply offends them for no reason.

The reality is simple: using those signifiers helps people identify which products are best suited in certain situations. This is helpful to folk who are trying to cut down on meat consumption or just interested in something new. Example: In Australia BBQ is a classic. It’s helpful to know which products would go best at such a culturally and socially significant event. Something labeled “sausage”, “burger”, “patty” ect is a helpful signifier and it’s literally not hurting anyone or anything accept a few weirdos feelings. Usually folk who barf at the sight of a vegetable in the first place let alone a full meat replacement

In my country Sri Lanka it's called 'pollos' (පොළොස් )
We eat it like a curry with rice, swear to God if you try this curry you will love it 🍛

Honestly i believe vegan or vegetarian food should be more widely spread even in fast food. Sometimes ya dont wanna eat meat or just eat somethign different. and plant based patties and the like are so interesting and they are tasty in their own right.

In Germany there is a thing called "Kinderwurst" which would translate into sausage made out of children. But nobody seems to have a problem with that 😂
