Metric vs SAE / Imperial / American / Stubborn Measurement system. In certain instances, metric isn’t faster… like when using the English language to talk about it.

They make 2 liter sodas. Try saying that in gallons every time.

Metric system is definitively better. Even children at US schools know what 9mm is.

Put an empty cube of 10cm side length on a pair of scales and set it to zero. Now fill it with water. The measured weight will be 1 kilogram. Exactly, one kilogram is a 10cm cube of water. Now pour the water into a 1 liter bottle. Fits perfectly. 1 liter of water weighs 1 kilogram and it is 10cm in cubic size. A 1cm cube of water weighs 1 gram and has the volume of 1 mililiter. Scale it up. A 1 meter cube of water weighs a ton or 1000 kilograms. It has a 1000 liters volume.
Now freeze the water and let's call the temperature when it does that 0° celsius. Now bring it to boil and say that temperature is 100° celsius. Water is solid under 0°C. It is liquid over 0°C. It is gaseous over 100°C.
The metric system has ultimately been defined by the universal chemistry of water.

Just because a gallon isn’t equal to a litre doesn’t mean the metric system sucks, you can use other sizes of containers other than gallons. And I’m American

Personally, I prefer metric, only because everything is divisible by ten (1 km, 10 hm, 100 dam, 1000m, 10000dm, and it’s easy. Also the weight of water is equal to the weight measurements ( 1 liter=1 kg ). It’s not hard.

how many foot is there in a mile, and if it says in europe 9.77 km it is 9770m or 977 000 cm

Fun fact: A liter of water weighs exactly 1 kg. For temperature, 0 Celsius is the point at which water freezes at sea level, and 100 Celsius is the point at which water boils. 1 kilogram has 1, 000 grams, and 1 ton is 1, 000 kilograms. I could go on all day because the metric system is not only based on nature but is also fully coherent between units.

Reminds me of my high school exchange year in the U.S. fifty years ago. "How can the metric system be considered simple if one inch is 2.54 centimeters?"

Weird thing is in Indonesia (that use metric) we call the large refilled bottle of drinking water as "galon", although it is written on it "19 liter".

You can fill the same container with 4 liters
You just need a new sticker

How many feet or whatever you use, are in a mile? Or Oz or whatever you use are in a gallon?

Well, when the USA adopts the metric system fully.. It will be rounded up to 3.8 litres! 😂

Even in English, the advantage of the metric system is the same. The conversion between the values.
1 gallon (gal) = 160 fluid ounce (fl oz)
3.785 Liters (l) = 3785 milliliters (ml)
The argument alone is strange. Just make it 4 liters if you don't want decimals. You don't make 1.543 gallon packs either. Wtf. Is that ragebait?

If Merca went metric, the new container would then contain 3 liters and would cost the same as the 1 gallon. Corporations would use the change in measurement systems to gouge the consumer.

The issue isn't with the metric system but with the imperial system. Both systems use whole rounded numbers, but the way the imperial system measures things doesn't align with the metric system's method of measurement. As a result, conversions between them don't match up perfectly. Factually speaking, the metric system is superior for measuring and weighing.

How many feet cube are in a gallon of water? How much its weight?
